Bali Swimwear Manufacturers Compared: 5 Factories on Facts You Can Check
Last updated
Back to blog
The best Bali swimwear manufacturer for your brand is the one whose minimums, lead times and fabrics match your first collection. Not the one at the top of a list. Below we compare five: Bali Swim, Swimwear Bali, Active Qstom, Bellakini and Yogi & Boo. We run one of them. Bali Swim has been a swimwear manufacturer in Bali since 2014. Because we're in the comparison, every factory's figures come from its own website. By the end you'll know how many pieces your bikini and swimwear line needs, how long production takes, and which fabrics each factory stocks.
Which Bali swimwear manufacturer fits you?
Pick on three things: how few pieces you can start with, how soon you need stock, and whether you need your own designs. The tables below show the numbers behind each pick.
- Possibly the smallest first run: Bellakini. 25 pieces per color and fabric. For 5 styles in 1 color, that's 25 or 125 pieces depending on how they apply it, so ask first.
- Small run, flexible count: Active Qstom. 200 pieces standard, or 50 to 199 at adjusted pricing. Ask what "adjusted" means per piece before you compare quotes.
- Fast bulk on a bigger order: Swimwear Bali. Bulk takes 3 to 5 weeks, and published prices start at USD 12.50 a piece. Minimums are 300 pieces ready or 400 custom, so it suits a second collection better than a first.
- Ready designs you won't find at other factories: Bali Swim (us). Choose from hundreds of our own ready designs in our online shop, sample any of them in 3 days, then order from 100 pieces in total, mixed across styles, with 20 per style per color. If you only want 25 to 50 pieces, Bellakini or Active Qstom may suit you better.
- Certified working conditions first: Yogi & Boo. It states SA8000 and ISO 14001 certification, prints digitally in-house and quotes average lead times of 4 to 7 weeks. It doesn't publish minimums, so ask first.
Making your own bikini designs? Compare custom swimwear manufacturers in Bali on the same numbers. Ours starts at 250 pieces and Swimwear Bali's at 400. Bellakini doesn't publish a custom minimum.
Want private label swimwear in Bali, made from your own designs? That's the custom route. Want to start from styles that already exist? Our ready designs are the white-label route.
What to check before you compare Bali swimwear manufacturers
Published numbers only help if you read them the same way at every factory. Each one counts minimums, lead times and certificates a little differently, so check these four things before you line up quotes.
The headline minimum isn't your minimum. A factory may advertise 100 pieces, but its per-style or per-color rule decides what you actually order.
Lead times start at different points. Bellakini starts its 12 weeks after approvals and a 50% deposit. Ours starts once your payment is received. For everyone else, ask "from when?"
"Sustainable" can mean the fabric or the factory. A recycled fabric says nothing about how the sewing floor is run, and the reverse is also true.
Not everyone listed is a factory. Some names on Bali lists are agents or sourcing networks that pass your order to someone else.
Is every company on a Bali list a swimwear factory?
No. A factory cuts and sews in its own building, an agent places your order with factories, and a sourcing network spreads it across many. Prototype, for example, says it works through partner factories in Bali and elsewhere in Indonesia. Several Bali factories, including ours, import fabric tax and duty-free. A tax-free claim only matters if it shows up in your price, so ask each factory for the landed fabric cost per meter.
Bali swimwear manufacturers compared: minimums, samples and lead times
Who has the lowest MOQ depends on how you count. Active Qstom accepts 50 to 199 pieces at adjusted pricing, and Bellakini sets 25 pieces per color and fabric. Bali Swim starts at 100 pieces per shop order.
| Manufacturer | Order minimum | Per-style minimum | Samples | Bulk lead time | Certifications and claims |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bali Swim | 100 pcs (ready designs via shop); 250 pcs (team-assisted ready design or custom order) | 20 per style per color or print | No minimum. Ready design samples in 3 days, custom samples in 2 weeks, both on in-stock fabric at 3x the bulk price (custom adds a USD 99 fee, half refunded with a bulk order) | 4 to 8 weeks once payment is received (shop orders) | 95% recycled fabrics; Carvico Brisbane Recycled print base is GRS and RCS certified; solar-powered factory; tax and duty-free fabric imports |
| Swimwear Bali | 300 pcs (ready designs); 400 pcs (custom) | Ready: 30 per style, minimum 3 per size and color. Custom: 40 per style, minimum 4 per size and color | Ready designs 1 to 2 weeks, custom 1 to 3 weeks, using in-stock colors; swatch pack USD 75, credited on first bulk order | 3 to 5 weeks | Mills hold OEKO-TEX Standard 100 and GRS; dyes stated as OEKO-TEX certified; states it holds Bali's only tax-free fabric import facility |

What's your real minimum with a low MOQ swimwear manufacturer?
Your real minimum comes from each factory's per-style and per-color rules, not the number on its homepage. Count your style and color combinations first, then apply each rule.
Take a typical first collection: 5 styles in 1 color. That's 5 style and color combinations. At our rule of 20 pieces per style per color, that's 5 x 20 = 100 pieces, our order minimum. Add a second color and you're at 5 x 2 x 20 = 200 pieces. One extra color doubles the order.
Here's the same 5-style, 1-color collection at each factory:
| Manufacturer | Rule that decides it | Smallest order |
|---|---|---|
| Bali Swim | 20 per style per color, 5 combinations | 100 pcs |
| Swimwear Bali | 300 order minimum for ready designs | 300 pcs |
| Active Qstom | 200 standard, no per-design minimum | 200 pcs (or from 50 at adjusted pricing) |
| Bellakini | 25 per color and fabric | 25 pcs if the 25 is shared by every style in that color, or 125 pcs if it applies to each style (5 x 25). Their site doesn't say which, so ask |
| Yogi & Boo | Not published | Ask |
For more on how minimums work, read our MOQ guide.
Write down your styles and colors, and send every factory the same list. Then you're comparing one collection, not five.

Which Bali factories offer recycled and certified fabric?
Three of the five name recycled fabrics. Swimwear Bali stocks six fabrics, all recycled nylon. Active Qstom lists ECONYL and REPREVE fabrics alongside non-recycled ones, and 95% of the fabric we use is recycled. Check whether a certificate covers the fabric or the factory.
| Manufacturer | Fabrics listed | Recycled? | Colors published | Fabric rule that affects your order | Prints | Swatches |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bali Swim | 10 fabrics in stock in Bali, from Italian mills Carvico and Jersey Lomellina plus our own textures | 95% of the fabric we use is recycled; 6 of our 10 fabrics are recycled | 144 solid colors, 3 print bases and 7 house prints, listed by name on our fabrics page | No meter minimum on stock fabrics; 20 pieces per style per color or print | Sublimation printing in-house on Carvico Brisbane Recycled (recycled polyester) | Swatch books, sold alone or in a Starter Kit |

What to ask any factory about fabric:
- Which colors are in stock now, and which need importing?
- Is it recycled, and can you send the certificate?
- What's the fabric minimum in meters, not pieces?
- Can I feel it first? A swatch shows you how it stretches.
Ethical swimwear manufacturer in Bali: what do GRS and SA8000 cover?
GRS (Global Recycled Standard), owned by Textile Exchange, verifies recycled content through the supply chain. It also sets social, environmental and chemical rules for the sites it certifies. SA8000, from Social Accountability International, audits working conditions such as hours, pay, and health and safety. So a GRS fabric tells you about the mill, not about a sewing factory without its own certificate. Ask each factory which certificate covers which site. Our own claims are a solar-powered factory and a GRS and RCS certified print base.
Why use a swimwear manufacturer in Indonesia, and how does Bali compare?
Bali gives you small minimums and factories you can visit, but much of the recycled swim fabric comes from overseas mills such as Carvico in Italy. So lead time and fabric choice depend on what each factory has in stock. You can see it in the rules above: Swimwear Bali sets 70 meters per imported Carvico color, and Bellakini sets 75 yards for imported fabric. At Bali Swim, a non-stock imported fabric adds 3 to 6 weeks, depending on the fabric. Before you fall for a color, ask if it's in stock.

How to compare Bali swimwear factories yourself in three steps
You don't need an agent to compare factories. Three steps get you quotes you can actually line up.
- Write your list. Styles, colors per style and total pieces. Use the minimum math above.
- Send the same list to every factory. Same styles, same quantity, same fabric. Ask each one "from when?" about lead time.
- Order samples from two or three. Compare fit, fabric and how clearly each one answers your questions. Ask each one how they check quality before shipping, and whether they'll sign an IP agreement. If you're in Bali, visit before you order.
Frequently Asked Questions
- How much does it cost to manufacture swimwear in Bali?
- It depends on how many pieces you order. Few Bali factories publish prices, and the ones that do set them at different minimums. A lower price per piece often comes with a higher minimum order, so the cheaper factory can still mean a bigger first bill. Before you compare, check four things: the total cost of your first order, not just the price per piece; the quantity each price applies to; whether lining, labels and trims are included; and what samples cost. Then ask every factory to quote the same collection at the same quantity.
- How long does swimwear production take in Bali?
- Bulk production in Bali usually takes about 3 to 12 weeks, based on what the factories in this comparison publish. Your timeline depends on four things: when the clock starts (after sample approval, deposit or full payment), whether your fabric is in stock or has to be imported, which can add several weeks, how many rounds of samples you need before bulk, and how busy the factory is. Shipping comes on top. So always ask “from when?” and plan your launch date back from there.
- Do Bali manufacturers offer private label or white label swimwear?
- Yes. Private label means your own designs, made under your brand. White label means a factory's ready designs with your label on them. We offer both: private label through our custom route from 250 pieces, and white label from the biggest ready-design selection in Bali, with hundreds of styles you can sample in 3 days and order from 100 pieces. The full difference is in our private label vs white label guide.
- Can I visit a swimwear factory in Bali before ordering?
- Yes. You can book a visit to our factory through our factory visit calendar. Swimwear Bali also offers factory tours, and Yogi & Boo takes visits by appointment. If you're in Bali, see more than one.
- How do payments work on a first order?
- At Bali Swim, it depends on the order. On your first custom order placed with our team, samples are paid 100% upfront, and bulk production starts with a 50% deposit, with the balance paid before shipping. Swimwear Bali asks for 50% to start and the balance before shipping. Bellakini asks for a 50% deposit before its 12-week bulk run. Active Qstom and Yogi & Boo don’t publish terms, so ask.
