The basics
Every swimsuit starts as two fibers knitted together. A base yarn, nylon or polyester, gives the fabric its feel, color and strength. Elastane gives the stretch and snap-back that keeps a suit in place after a dive. Spandex is another name for elastane, and LYCRA® is a brand of it.
The mix matters for fit, support and recovery. Nylon blends offer a soft, second-skin feel for solid-color bikinis and one-pieces. Polyester is our base for printed styles. Compare the composition, weight and stretch together rather than choosing by one specification alone.
Our core fabrics include regenerated ECONYL® nylon and recycled polyester from mills including Carvico and Jersey Lomellina in Italy, alongside non-recycled nylon options. We stock the colors brands order most, so you can sample and produce without waiting on a mill.

Yes. ECONYL® is the same nylon as fossil-based nylon, just made from waste, so it performs like new. What decides how long a suit lasts is the elastane and how the mill builds the fabric. That's where our fabrics pull ahead:
So going recycled doesn't cost you durability. A recycled Italian fabric can outlast a cheaper non-recycled one.

Printing
We print in-house in Bali. Women's prints go on Carvico Brisbane Recycled ♻, men's on Microfiber Recycled. You approve a print strike before we cut, and you can print from 20 pieces per style per print. Pick from the print library, or bring your own artwork for a print that's only yours.

The fastest and most affordable start. Everything marked Stock or Last Chance in the Explorer.
Special colors straight from the mill. Longer lead time and the mill's own minimums. We import as a bonded manufacturer, so mill fabric arrives duty-free.
Already have a fabric in mind? You can source it from your own supplier and send it to us for production. Share the fabric specifications first so we can confirm it works for swimwear, and let's sample it too.

FAQ
Mostly nylon or polyester knitted with elastane, also called spandex. The base yarn gives the fabric its feel, color and strength; elastane gives stretch and recovery. The exact fiber mix varies by fabric and is listed in our comparison table and Fabric Explorer.
It depends on your line. For beach and fashion swim in solid colors, start with a nylon and elastane blend like Carvico VITA. For prints, start with recycled polyester like Carvico Brisbane Recycled ♻. For suits worn mainly for lap swimming, ask us about the best option before choosing.
Carvico VITA for solids and Carvico Brisbane Recycled ♻ for prints. Both are recycled, both are in stock, and between them they cover most first collections. VITA is thin, soft and breathable, with strong hold; Brisbane is our base for printed women's styles.
Yes. ECONYL® is the same nylon as fossil-based nylon, so it performs like new. Durability comes from the elastane and the mill: Carvico's fabrics resist chlorine, sun cream and oils more than twice as well as standard swim fabrics.
Carvico VITA, Beverly, Pantelleria and Brisbane Recycled are made to resist chlorine. For suits worn mainly for lap swimming, ask us for the best option.

Yes. If you already work with a mill or have a fabric you want to use, you can source it from your own mill or supplier and send it to us for garment production. Share the specifications first so we can check it works for swimwear, your styles and our machines.
LYCRA® is a brand of elastane. Elastane and spandex are names for the same fiber. A fabric containing elastane is not automatically a LYCRA® branded fabric.
170 to 220 g/m² suits most fashion swim. Lighter fabrics suit men's shorts and minimal styles, while heavier fabrics add structure for sculpting one-pieces and textures. Weight alone doesn't tell you how a fabric will feel or stretch. Compare the specifications and feel a swatch before choosing.
Choose lining that works with the outer fabric's stretch, recovery and opacity. Using the same fabric for both layers can help them stretch and recover together. Light colors may need an extra layer. Confirm the lining for your chosen fabric and style during sampling.
Fabric is easier to choose when it's in your hands. Stretch it, wet it, compare it, then design.
